It is with great sadness that we join our friends at Storymoja the larger writing community in mourning Kofi Awoonor who died following the siege on Westgate Mall in Nairobi on Saturday 21st September. Prof. Awoonor was in Nairobi for this year's edition of the StorymojaHay Festival, and was scheduled to teach some Master Classes as well as participate in public readings.

We send our deepest condolences to all of you affected by the gruesome events of this past weekend and our thanks toall those who joined us at the Nairobi Museum onMondaynight to pay their respects to Kofi Awoonor. Readings and tributes were led by members of the Ghana High Commission, Kwame Dawes, Teju Cole, Binyavanga Wainaina, Nii Parkes, Billy Kahora, Aghan Odero Aghan, Njeri Wangari, Muthoni Garland and John Sibi Okumu and many others.
