Kwani? at Storymoja Hay Festival - Panel Discussion : Reservoir of Public Memory & Kwani? Sunday Salon

Join us this weekend for this year's edition of the Storymoja Hay Festival, a four day celebration of stories, ideas, writing and contemporary culture through storytelling, books, live discussion forums, workshops, debates, live performances, competitions, mchongoano, book swap and music.

Kwani Trust's Managing Editor Billy Kahora will  moderate a session on genre, technique, craft & representation of this year's General Elections. This panel is a follow-up to a similar one we held in June 2013 at the same venue on how art, writing and culture in its different art forms & genres has represented the Kenya General Elections since 2007 and will cover Electoral politics through cartoons, puppetry and visual images. Panelists will also discuss the North Rift Electoral Narrative through travelogue, essay and investigation, Elections Online Writing and Blogging as well as a review of academic writing on Elections and Electoral Politics

This special edition of Sunday Salon celebrates readings and conversations with four East African Writers who have set the region abuzz. Alexander Ikawah and Dilman Dila were shortlisted for the 2013 Commonwealth Short Story Prize and Temo Buliro is a Jomo Kenyatta Literature Prize Winner. Stanley Gazemba was shortlisted for the Kwani? Manuscript Prize and Timothy Kimutai was a runner-up.
