Kwani? at Storymoja 

Kwani? will appear at the Storymoja Festival held at Nairobi Arboretum for the following three events: 

11.00 a.m - 1.00 p.m, Sunday, Sept 20th: Writers and The Coast: On Devolution, Terror, Insecurity and Religion

Kwani Trust plans to put together a collection of essays, fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, testimonials, and photography based on the Coast Province. These will be part of an up-coming edition of Kwani’s flagship journal that will explore various themes emerging in Kenya after the 2013 general elections, including debates about and on the Kenyan Coast. We have been working in the region for the last 6 months and the panel will discuss ongoing Kwani work at the Coast.

Panelists: Ngala Chome, Stambouli Nassir, Usama Goldsmith and Jackie Lebo.
Moderated by Billy Kahora.

4.00 p.m - 6:00 p.m, Sun, Sep 20th: Historical Research and Fiction Writing Panel in collaboration with RVI

Kwani Manuscript Project and Commonwealth Short Story, Ugandan Writer Jennifer Makumbi will discuss the relationship between historical research and writing fiction. She’ll be on a panel with Zambian writer and 2015 Caine prize winner, Namwali Serpell, and Nigerian author and editor, Emmanuel Iduma. The conversation will be chaired by Ngala Chome.

6.00 p.m- 9.00 p.m Sep 20th: Kwani? Sunday Salon at Storymoja

Kwani @ Storymoja 2015 will end with Sunday Salon readings. Jennifer Makumbi will be joined by Burundian poet Ketty Nivyabandi, who appears in the upcoming Kwani. Plus writers Dami Ajayi and poet Phyllis Muthoni.
