Tessy “SocraTess” Aura grew up finding scribbles of her mother’s poetry in numerous notebooks around the house, and then started writing her own ages eleven. She has a gift for words and a flow that is effortlessly melodic. She writes about her personal experience and that of others close to her. She is primarily concerned with the position and condition of women in society, and uses her poetry to alter perceptions and behavior that exclude women from participating meaningfully in all spheres of life. She is fierce on stage and a powerful spoken word force to be reckon with.
