'Black August' at Kwani? Open Mic @ Afra Lounge, I Max. August 5th, 2014.

Renown poet Tony Mochama is the sponsor of a one-evening poetry competition.

It will be themed 'Things We Lost in August' and will be a knock out poetry competition, with audience rating and three top judges.

Anyone is welcome to read/perform an original poetry piece, as long as it adheres to the theme of 'loss'. The competition is dedicated to the memory of Tony's kid bro Benjy Mauta who passed away last year in August. The winners will take home Shs 5 000, first runners' up Shs 3 500 and third placed Shs 1 500 in cash. All winers will also get a free copy of one of Tony's books.
