His Father, a visual artist, is a huge influence on his craft, and imparted to him the necessary life skills to view the world from a different angle; to seeing art in life’s patterns, the beauty in the hideous. That sparkled a light and awakened his mind, changing his perspective of things around his troubled childhood with a minor stammer, while aspiring to be a musician in a space that required stage presence in the eye of the audience.

FLOWFLANI is now one of the most respected stage performing poets, poetic themes around “Peace” “Love” and “Harmony in the Discovery of Self”. His rhythm and style both in performance and writing has been influenced by Chicago’s Godfathers of Hip-hop – The Last Poets, Akua Naru, Boonaa Mohamed and Fela Kuti just to name a few; imbued with the sound of the Trumpet and the Saxaphone from Jazz, the Kick and the Snare from Hip-hop and the African - Nayabingi drums and Shaker.

In November 2013 he released “NOT4FAME”, a documentary about his journey, with the stutter, and performance arts. Within same year, one of his writings was included in a Kenyan Anthology of Poems published by KePoLo Books, setting him a notch higher in his artistry. His first studio album: “NYUMBA ZA MABATI” recorded with live instrumentals courtesy of his band.

“BENDIFLANI” was released in 2015 and received rave reviews a year later. His highly anticipated EP, “THE SKILLEDTAPE” was released and launched on live Radio, and he is currently on a tour around the country promoting it. He has been featured on some of the biggest shows in the country and is set to break borders. Flowflani has shared the stage with the likes of  H_art The Band, Teardrops, Mufasa Poet, Elani, and Zikki Band, just to name a few.
